Higher Temps= Higher Frizz. How to Deal with Summer and Curls

Everyone loves when it starts to get warmer outside, but for wavy and curly heads, it can be very frightening. Frizz, less hold, and sometimes even more oil, all come with the spring and summer temperature. In winter and fall, your hair needs as much moisture as possible, but what do you do when your hair is surrounded with moisture and heat?

Humid days have more H2O molecules in the air causing hair to frizz. In summer, I recommend trying to keep your hair light, having heavy hair is the last thing you want when it's 80 degrees outside. I started using the shea moisture curl stretch pudding last summer and it has worked wonders for me in summer and winter. Try to find YOUR perfect hair product.

When it comes to gels and holding creams, I highly recommend miss jessies. For my girls with much bigger, tighter curls and my afro babes, gels, gels, gels. You will need all the definition you can get when it's summer. Make sure to find one that doesn't weigh your curls down though!!

Organic oils are absolutely life changing, you can pick up almost anything from your local drug store or salon and you will fall in love with it. Oils have helped me so much when I am on second or third day hair and oils are the reasons my curls are defined now. I recommend trying out a couple and bringing it around with you in your purse, tote, etc. I always end up using it on me or another girl in need so I highly recommend it.

Lastly, creating your own “potion” is an awesome idea for summer. Take a small portable spray bottle and mix together your favorite oils, creams, and sprays. Stay away from thick and heavy products, light and runny is the consistency you're looking for. Shake up your favorite products and make sure you add water. PSA: Don't expect it to smell good!! Maybe adding a bit of perfume won't hurt anyone;) Test it and make sure it works for you. If it does, bring it around with you and use when needed!
