Dry, Oily, or Both? How to Achieve the Perfect Medium for Curly/ Wavy Hair

With temps rising and humidity just peeking around the corner, most of us are about to get absolutely hit with frizzy or oily hair, but how do I prevent it before it happens? Is there also a way I can stop it even after it happens? Yes and yes. I’m here to teach you how to achieve the most perfect texture so you can take on summer temperatures with one less problem to worry about.

Most curly girls lose their curl shape and just end up getting frizzy wavy pieces, and that's okay!! I have a few tips and tricks I've acquired over the past couple of years to stop frizz and/or prevent it from even happening in the first place.

So why does my hair frizz in humidity? When it's humid and moist outside, the water molecules “take over” your hair strands by clinging to proteins in the hair, causing your hair to no longer hold shape and resume its natural position (frizz).

What do I do when I wake up and the weatherman says it's humid? Run to find your hair oil, like I mean sprint to find it because if you don’t you will look like the Lion King or Edward Scissor Hands. Nobody wants that, so go to your local pharmacy or salon and invest in some good oil. I prefer mixtures of multiple organic oils but use what is best for you. A little secret of mine, I hype up hair oil so much because it prevents frizz AND gives you shine. I bring around my little “potion” everywhere with me just in case of an emergency. What's a potion you may ask? Read my other blog and learn how to create your own. Click here<3

Now for my girls whose hair is already too oily, I'm here to save your day as well. Why does my hair have no volume and just doesn't hold a curl? Or why does it hold a curl but it's super long and just feels flat? Congrats, your hair is oily! Woohoo! I'm kidding, oily curly hair is HARD because dry shampoo isn't going to help. My hair has always been on the dryer side of the spectrum so the best advice I can give you are these following tips. 1, use a clarifying shampoo about once a week. DON'T USE EVERYDAY!! If you do, your hair will end up crumbling and drying up. 2, never condition on your roots. 3, rinse properly. Use a shampoo meant for curls but is very light and cleans throughly. Also, make sure your conditioner isn't weighing your hair down. 4, make sure all your leave in products are light and not thick. Check to make sure your products are water based and not oil based. Lastly, switch around your routine. Your hair might be oily from one product and you will never know unless you start switching your routine up!

Hope this helps my girls who are currently struggling out there!! My IG DM’s are always open and so are my website messages<33
