Chloe's Curl Insecurities- 2/4/2022

Chloe was born into a mixed family with her having gorgeous african curls. As a little girl, she had an afro, long hair, loose coils, and anything else you can imagine. Her curls were very tamed and beautiful all of elementary and she loved them! Around middle school, she started to realize every girl around her had straight, blonde hair. She grew up in a very white neighborhood and she constantly felt that something was wrong with her. She tried straightening her hair, dressing a certain way, and doing anything she could to feel a part of something, but it never worked. She consistently damaged her ethnic curls because she felt they “were not fit for her.” As a biracial woman, she never felt like she belonged anywhere. She would look at other African girls and wish she had their curls, their clothes, their culture. She would look at other white girls and wish she wasnt who she was and that she would fit in more in her community. Around 8th grade, Chloe started to realize her culture is insanely beautiful and unique. As of right now, she is trying to embrace her curls more but that type of confidence takes months or even years. Chloe's ethnic, natural curls are absolutely beautiful and she's slowly trying to embrace herself more every single day.
